MODULE 2: February 19-21, 2021 – Basic Anatomy – How It Works Together with Leslie, Jenn, Celeste & Megan
The study of anatomy and the body systems help us understand how the body is built to function optimally. When we learn and understand optimal function, we can also discover how many of our daily habits can work against us! In this module we will focus on how Yoga practice, specifically Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing), and meditation can guide our bodies and systems back into alignment and improve functionality. You’ll learn to use the body’s cues and structures to improve your practices and achieve greater understanding of optimal function.

MODULE 3: March 19-21, 2021 – What is Your Nature? Learn About The Gunas with Celeste & Leslie
The gunas – sattva, rajas, and tamas – can be described as the qualities of energy or nature. When these qualities are out of balance, we may experience anxiousness, sadness, fatigue, an inability to concentrate, apathy, striving for sensory pleasures, doubt, anger, and many more disruptions to our well-being. When these qualities are in balance, we can experience more self-control, contentment, peace, ease, harmony, and love. In this module we will explain these qualities and discuss the causes of imbalance. You’ll learn to recognize the role the gunas play in your body, mind, and environment, as well as how to bring them into balance to achieve greater well-being.

MODULE 4: April 16-18, 2021 – Asana: The Art and Science of Movement with Leslie & Maria
Asana (posture) is the 3rd limb in Patanjali’s 8 limbs of Yoga. Patanjali defines Asana as a steady, comfortable posture. Through the Asana practice of holding specific body postures or moving the body through specific sequences of poses, we can promote the health of the physical body. A healthy, comfortable, steady body lays the groundwork for a calm and steady mind.
Asana practice is available to, and beneficial for, everyone and every body, regardless of physical abilities and limitations, physical strength and flexibility, or experience with Yoga. In this module we will focus on how Asana functions as a valuable tool within an overall Yoga practice. You’ll learn how Asana practice can be applied for everyone, and for all bodies, across the entire life span, from childhood to late adulthood.

Pranayama is the practice of controlling the breath – the inhalations and exhalations – and therefore the prana (energy) within the body. Pratyahara is the withdrawal of the senses that follows mastery of the breath, allowing the mind to become more intently focused. In this module we will further define Pranayama and Pratyahara. We will focus on learning to apply these two limbs of Yoga together to steady the wandering mind and deepen your yogic practice. You will learn to safely engage ancient techniques, including mula, uddiyana, and jalandhara bandhas to elevate these practices.

Meditation of any kind can help us to turn inward and contemplate the true nature of the self. Research has demonstrated the helpful effects of meditation practice for stress, anxiety, and depression in particular, but the benefits of a regular practice can be wide ranging.
